DIY diesel filter replacement - how?

Hi everyone, please if any of you know how to do diesel filter replacement, let me know.

I am fed up with BMW service as I came to realize they never changed my air filter so far, only charged me for it. Today I have found the original, super dirty filter when DIY replaced it with a new one. The car mechanic who did it for me said it looked horrible and not like one after a normal cycle of use but much older.

So I decided doing as much as possible on my own, that's why I want to go for the diesel filter replacement, too.

thanks for any description, link, photos or figures

cheers
