What?

Performance can be quantified, there are machines built for that purpose. But yes, I agree, K&N air filter gains are negligible at best.

However, tangible performance gains are primary considerations for companies that make real performance parts. K&N air filters and aftermarket mufflers do not qualify as performance parts.... they might make the car "sound" faster. In that respect, you're right about the market for "those" companies.
