The check engine oil level light keeps coming on. I have been told this is from the oil level sending unit in the oil pan.

Has anyone changed this on their own before? I looked at some links online for other BMWs and it looks like the sensor attaches to the side of the oil pan and is held in place by two or three screws.

Is this the case for the 4.4 or does the oil pan have to come off?
