Sure you can tow it. You have a 2001 model, so no X-Drive transfer case to worry about.

If you flat tow it with a rope or nylong towing strap, use the screw-in tow hook in the front bumper. All four wheels will be turning, on the ground. You are limited by BMW to a maximum of 75 km/hr, for a maximum of 150 km. Transmission in neutral, steering wheel unlocked, keep the tow line tight.

If you use a tow truck, do not use sling equipment as it will damage the front of the vehicle. You can use wheel lift equipment, with the front axle raised, according to BMW. You are limited by BMW to a maximum of 50 km/hr, for a maximum of 150 km. Transmission in neutral.

The best of all is to use towing equipment that is either a flat deck, or has dollies under the second axle so that the X5 wheels are not turning. Given that you only have to move it 4 km, you can decide if you want to spend the money or not.
