I have preferred diesels because of towing capacity, but could be tempted by the new petrol turbo due to the incerase in torque. I am mainly interested in difference in how strong they feel, not 0-60 numbers. Example, 4.8 kills the diesel 35 (3.0sd) in a 0-60 sprint, but in real life, on the highway, the diesel feels like it is pulling stronger when you overtake. It also feels stronger when you tow something.

First up its not a 5.0. If you are talking about the 50i, it's a 4.4 with twin turbos. It blows the pants off the 48i. If you wish to tow with it, it will pull your boat/car trailer/caravan/whatever inside out but in the process it will be thirsty. If you want easy towing
with economy the 35d (or the 40d if it's anything like the 35d plus a bit, and there's no reason to suggest that it will be anything else) is the go.
