Well I don't think they would be able to effectively chase down a car going at that speed. Those Crown Vics aren't capable of more than 120 or 130MPH.
Ever tried to drive a Crown Vic? I once rented one of those tanks...I really do not understand why the police is equipped with those. They should have at least given them an Impala SS or a TrailBlazer SS. Here in Toronto, the police are equipped with a pretty shoddy fleet:
Crown Vic (cruiser)
Chevy Impala (cruiser)
Ford Econoline Van (for unknown purposes)
Ford Focus (parking ticket)
Chevy Cavalier (parking ticket)
Chevy Suburban (cruiser)
Horse (cruiser)
"Specialized" Bicycle (cruiser)
Just this one time, I saw a Chrysler 300C Hemi RCMP car. Those are our FBI guys.

But usually they are not piloting 300+ horse machines. Usually they are piloting a horse (for real).
