I do have the same issue happening in my X5. I think that it is not any OS dependent issue. I have updated several operating systems and that symptom has always existed in my navigation system.

However, I've noticed that the route magnet feature has something to do with it. When you start your vehicle in a rural area (with a route magnet set on), the navigation system gives you audible insructions, but it does not show instructions visually. When you start your vehicle off-road (and the route magnet is set on), the navigation system gives you both the audible and visual instructions. However, when you the go on to any "digitized" road and then come back to "not digitized", the system does not give you instructions anymore.

I think that the reason is either a bug or it relates to some settings. I do not know how to fix it, but I would be very keen to know.
