Yes, the nav will work with either the TV module
or the nav computer (or both).

Disconnect every plug to try and do a visual check to find it, if nothing obvious, then do a continuity test on each lead.

The nav system has 2 fuses (I think), 7 and 41.

Red is for the speed sensor and reverse signal.
Disconnecting the blue will give you a blank screen (unless you have the TV module).
No not really, it could be anything from a loose wire to a faulty mk3 or screen.
