Excellent question. Honest answer is I have no idea anymore. If it is true that the anti-glare coating is indeed very soft and can be removed by wiping with even water, then I'd be very very careful of using any solvent. Compressed air isn't a bad idea, just realize that if any of the chemical comes out with the air it will do damage to the display. (I've ruined a camera lens filter that way)

The problem with cleaning it is precisely the reason I am looking into screen protectors.
