on another note coming back to the question of prices and relative prices in AU vs US done take this as rude but it naive to think that the prices in AU are set that way. BMW have extremely spohiosticated price models based on what they calculate the market can bear as a price vs the number of units they will sell vs the % market share that will give them in each country. An X5 or any BMW's sale price has precious little to do with component or development cost - those are recouped extremely quickly - its all about what they can get away with - as does every brand if were being honest
