Was good to have around. I didn't personally have to use that thankfully, but there was plenty of people "looting" around the whole area. A friend of the family who happens to be a police officer had fended off a small handful of looters from his block to help his neighbors. I think they just look for areas with no cars in the driveway and no noise from generators to know the empty areas... bastards.
