I was thinking the evaporator was freezing as well, but it literally only takes a few minutes before it starts working again. Wouldn't it take longer if it were frozen over?
Also, how could the blower actually be blowing if no air is coming out of the vents? Wouldn't it be more like blower on = air movement, blower off = no air movement? When I say the air stops, I don't just mean the a/c stops. I mean there is literally no air movement coming out of the vents at all. Cold or warmer vent air. Then when I turn off the compressor for a few minutes, warmer vent air starts flowing again. After the vent air movement resumes, if I turn the compressor back on, it blows cold a/c again. I have to repeat this process over and over if I am on a long trip.
Earlier, when I said that I heard sound increasing when I manually turned up the fan speed, the noise wasn't necessarily coming from the main dash vents. It could be coming from the back, other areas, etc. Sorry if that was confusing.
Overall, it sounds like my first actions are to replace the microfilter and make sure the system if fully charged. Then look at the fsr connection.
I am not sure what temperature the air is coming out of hte vents. I have no way to test this at home. I will have the shop that checks the system give me a before and after reading if they have to charge it.
