I agree that lifetime coolant is a good thing, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be checked during inspections. Those checks should include level, concentration (strength), checking for any contaminants, and a check of whether the conditioners are still active (usually via alkilinity). Since many shops can't check coolant fully, it ends up being replaced many times when it doesn't need to be. Owners are conditioned to believe coolant wears out according to a set schedule, which isn't true; if it isn't contaminated, only the conditioners wear out, and they can be added.
