Leaving the resonator in while removing the mufflers from the back would have left it smoother and deeper without being too loud... Maybe you could try a magnaflow or flowmaster dual in dual out muffler in the middle where the resonator was? Or a pair of flowmaster hushpowers/hushpower2s in that space would give a deep tone without being overly loud or raspy.
