You buy the controller separately. Tekonsha Prodigy is the most common recommendation (I use it) and BMW sells a rebranded version. You'll need to run a brake wire to the front from the (new) dedicated brake wire at the rear of the X5. Alternatively I've heard Prodigy has a wireless controller now too.
