just to recap:

You went to the 2nd pc and typed in Ping <ip address of computer with printer attached> and it times out?

if so, can both machines get to the internet?
Did you try pinging the 2nd machine from the main machine?

make sure you're typing in the right IP address too. it's easy to thumb.
