my issue was not that it was dim, but rather it was YELLOW. I knew I had battery issues b/c my video monitors in the back were hooked up to my cig adapter plug they are hot all the time. Dim LCD screens are basically a function of the CCFL backlighting. They do tend to loose brightness over time.
