sorry for the hijack...on topic.
question.....same boat but the car did have a break change before i bought it.....
computer says 22k for front before breaks and 14k for back breaks...
also...the computer readout said "8" left on the break pads (12-0 I think the pads run).
we r debating the ext. maint. also ($2250 or so). We have 43k on the car now (just bought last week).
One thing the dealer said was there is a $$ 60k scheduled mile check up and $$ 90k mile. Andthe 60K one is very $$
FYI--I asked if my DH does the oil changes if it would void the CPO extended 100K/6yr--they said NO as long as we keep receips to prove the oil change was done AND IT has to have BMW parts. We asked that in case we did not buy the ext maint. plan..but seems we are going to.
I bought the ext maint plan with my NEW 325I in 2006 and SOLD IT before I even used the plan. Therefore--I am "gun shy" about buying the plan again. Our dealer lady said that she would NEVER suggest a brand new car to get this plan (wish they told me that instead of PUSHING It on us)....but rather, wait till near the 50K mark and buy then if needed--and DOES recommend it at that point if you still have the car.
SO--this is where we seem to be.....near the 50K mark and trying to figure out if the extended maint plan is good. We just bought this car used...but either way...seems it is the burning question.
For the OP--if you have never changed your breaks seems they may be near due??? Your onboard comp0uter should give you a "guess" how many miles are left. Not sure of the price..someone said $1200 above....toss in a few oil changes and that is NOT $2250! HOWEVER--if you hit that 60K scheduled maintanance that is due....I think it is pricy (that is what the dealer is saying)..so toss in $1200 or so more....it starts to add up. Of course, you could take your car to a non-BMW shop for some basic maintanance that is due at the 60K. And/or change you oil yourself...etc.
GL--I am in the same boat with wondering what is up....
?????? $2250 is a lot....my hubbie can do oil changes....and breaks but to hit the 60 k $$ maintenance....for a bit more
