Just plugged a GT1 into my '01 X5 with 42k on it and noticed the following code from the DME:

140 Activation map cooling

Is it normal for the thermostat to go bad? Is this something that needs to be replaced right away, or can I let it wait a few weeks? Engine seems to run fine, but what do I know
