I'll follow up on my original thread about changing the outer CV boot on my '03 X5.
My local indy shop has never changed a BMW CV boot, but when I called him to ask if he could, right away he went to this forum--as I directed him to my original thread--and started reading up on it. He's done dozens of boots on other vehicles but not BMW.
He is saying it looks pretty straight forward to change the outer boot, which is the torn one. He read up on the procedure and feels it should not be much different than any other CV outer boot change.
I'll find out today as I take it to him. He will look at and determine for sure he can do it before tearing into it. Sounds fair to me.
I'll follow up on THIS thread to let you know how it all goes/went.

Is/are there any one or two really special things I could tell him before he starts the job? I mean like critical things he might miss or overlook? The boot just tore and has less than 25 miles on the torn boot, so I am confident that no contaminents have invaded the joint itself.
