You shoudl adopt a grown dog:

1. You're right, pups go more quickly, and wonderful, loving adult dogs many times have to be euthenized.
2. They are, for the most part, house-trained, and are out of the "chewing" stage. Also, you are normally well aware of the dog's health. With puppies, you never know what health problems may be lurking.
3. Adult rescued dogs simply give SO much love dedication. Dogs to whom you give "second chance" show their gratitued with undying, unconditional love and dedication.

You should consider rescuing a grown dog.
