Replace the sensor. Older E53 models had a simple contact with only a warning light when it wore through. That isn't the same as the E70.

The E70 counts down the remaining pad mileage on iDrive. It uses a two-stage sensor (if it is the same as my 535, and I suspect it is). Once the mileage is counting down, and you replace pads, you need to replace the sensor. The manual advises that if you don't you won't be able to reset the brake pad counter.
