First thing I added to my used 2001 X5.
Whether you like the look or not, it saves the paint. Out in Idaho, they "seal" the roads by laying down an oily tar coat followed by loose stone. Mainly to prevent moisture getting into cracks, freezing, and then breaking up the road. All that loose stone makes for a thriving windshield replacement industry out there (and lots of people driving with cracked windshields)
With all that stone flying around, I have more chips on my hood (past the clear bra) and virtually none behind my wheels.
