Well in NJ it's illegal to not have a front plate, but there's no mounting bracket on my X5 cause the previous owner was from NC or SC, where I assume front plates aren't mandatory. I was too lazy and cheap to buy one. I haven't had any problems because I am primarily in NY while at school (and the X5 is registered in NJ). And I guess professional courtesy helps too
