Not a big deal at all, just unsafe, illegal, and can throw codes. But if running your engine is more important than all that, go for it. You must be that guy at the centre of the universe I've heard so much about.
Personally, I ask other drivers to turn their engines off if they are running them while refueling. If they refuse, I can hit the emergency stop button, shut down all the pumps, and blame it on them.
I have a family member who works for an oil company, and is often on retail site visits. They hit the same emergency stop switch in that circumstance.
