I agree. I can't believe the jerks that fill their tanks with their cars running! It's like the idiots that smoke at the pumps.
To the OP (autoque), I have a 2008 X5 4.8i and I never have any problems filling it all the way to the top whether I'm using automatic mode or fast or slow pumps. I can't say why yours wouldn't be filling all the way. It would bother me but I don't know if it means that there is a problem or not...
