Edit: Looks like you can buy just the ends. They are called supports, and are different for left and right, available in three colours. Item 14 on the drawing in this link:

You guys are good... and quick too. I found the other side in the back of the X5. I reassembled, but there is no tension on it. Is the cargo cover suppose to be self retracting? If so, I have no tension at the supports.
