BTW, is it possible the problem could be cause by the hitting the pot hole? I hope I can get my insurance company to take care of it if I can justify that it was caused by accidently hitting that pot hole.

If it was caused by the pothole, it would be due to impact and not just due to the jarring. Any impact would have left marks (and it would have to be a pretty deep pothole)
Although the machinist recommended is not in Australia, a driveline shop that is accustomed to cutting and welding driveshafts, changing yokes, etc, should be able to do the same repair. If the alternative is a new transfer case, it would be worth investigating.
