The above only applies to the transmission fluid. I would make sure the engine oil and filter were fresh, all levels were checked including diffs and transfer case, brakes were inspected, and so on. It just makes sense to make sure the vehicle is prepared for a long trip.

Thanks for the response! I agree with your recommendations. I will definitely make sure that all the other fluids and brakes are up to date.
I'm also equipped with a code reader and X5 manuals on the trip and if anything should arise I'll be reporting from the road on the forum.
I will do an overall assessment of the X5 upon return from my trip.
