IMO, tires may not matter in a subjective marketing test but it matters in real the world. What also matters in the world is a driver with at least basic knowledge of how to manage the DSC or EDS in their premium vehicles to regain control. There are numerous work-arounds to get Torsen and xdrive, for that matter, to achieve a reasonable task without being fully dependent on either system, in the real world.
FWIW, i've witnessed the quatro system in a Q5 handle a more difficult task, with real elements, in the real world.
