The thought of a dodgy ignition switch had crossed my mind. Another thing is that for a long time now, sometimes when I start the car the voice recognition lady comes along and keeps saying "sorry" ...... "sorry" ...... "sorry" ...... "cancel". I've almost gotten used to it and have started to ignore it. Now I'm wondering if this is caused by a malfunctioning ignition switch as well, and it's now getting worse.

I've heard that everything electrical in the X5's are routed through the ignition switch one way or another. Think I'll replace mine ....
