The only real difference between 17" & 18" rims is the brake clearance. If you replace the front brakes with the larger ones found on the 4.8 model, you need the 18" rims. This is something I really should have thought of before buying my 17" setup. Running autocross with my X5, I'd really like to install the larger front brakes. oh well, one step forward, two steps back.
