That was a pain, but it can be done. You will need to almost put your body into the engine bay leaning over. A small mirror helped me see down there. (like the dentist uses)
If that part is leaking it might be a leading indicator that your 2nd oil separator is failing too. (also called a cover here) Part 2. RealOEM.com BMW E53 X5 4.4i Intake manifold system
Pressure build up from the cover failing can cause that hose to fail. First weak point. Then you might have positive crank pressure that makes oil come out of the oil cap.
That can be much bigger a job if you need to replace it. But can be a DIY. I did it.

would this cause this problem:
The problem I have looks like the one described here but still I will need your urgent feedback before the dealer opens my engine with open bank check!!
So, start the engine, normal, no smoke no engine noise just a normal wonderful powerful vehicle..
Waiting around 5-10 minutes, push on the fuel pedal
white smoke goes out from the passenger side exhaust then disappears completely
waiting another 5 minutes and push again
white smoke appear !! drive, stop at traffic light or side, push fuel , white smoke.. but while idle or driving no smoke at all
Add to that, around every 1-2K mile, oil is consumes by almost a liter and I have to add oil from time to time
, search with the technician around the engine,,, not symptoms for oil leak!
Would it be the Oil Separator as you all say! And if so is it something complicated to do and requires to take out the engine in order to replace it?
