E46 Mk4 Maps and upgrade question
Hi, I'm a total newbie to this, so apologies in advance for that!
Just just bought a 2002 BMW 3-Series with built in navigation. I know the maps are old, but I'm not sure how old, as some major motorways here in the UK were missing when I drove it home.
THe system is the Mk4 as it has the large 16:9 screen, and a DVD logo on the drive unit in the boot. Oddly there is a CDR disc in there so I guess the previous owner had a copy of CD maps?
Ive a few questions if possible...
I have read that there are new versions out there that add a new isometric view with a background, and night mode amongst other things. I downloaded this (the file was called V32) and burned it to a CD but nothing seems to have changed. It definitely looked like it updated, as I got the message on screen, and the progress bar, then it restarted - but I dont see anything new, and no mention of new "views" etc. - is this due to my outdated maps? The top right of the screen reads "SW 4-1/00" is this up to date, or not?
I have looked around for some maps to try online, but they all seem to be around 6GB, so do I need to use a DVD9 disc? (I dont have any)
I found one called "BMW Professional 2010" which burned and fitted on a disc, but the system wont accept it. How can I tell which maps will work with my E46 please? Does anybody have a link to some recent UK / GB maps that will fit on a 4.7GB DVD?
I dont get any reference to post code navigation, and I;m not sure the TMC is doing anything (it shows TMC in red) - again is this because of my old maps, or is there an issue with old firmware?
Many thanks in advance.
