Try cleaning the MAF and if that doesn't work, you could try to swap MAF's with someone who has the same engine to troubleshoot, or just bite the bullet and order a new one.
My(01 X5 4.4i) has the same codes, also with:P1158/P1160). Due to what I've been advised by some folks in the forum, I than finally decided to visit a shop for a smoke test done in the intake system. Well... amazingly it was a vacuum leak right under the front intake manifold gaskets, which lead me to a major mechanic job I've ever done in my entire life. See pictures below for details....
