I have an iPhone 4 and a 2011 X5 35D. Bluetooth works fine, as does the iPod connector.

An error pops up on the iPhone saying that "the accessory you're trying to use is not approved for use for this device."

Just ignore that error. You can browse your song library on your iPhone 4, just fine.

I also ordered the smart phone integration cradle, but I've yet to order the iPhone snap-in adapter. Frankly, the iPhone 4's reception is so much better than the iPhone 3, I replaced, I have no need for the adapter.

It's nice to know it's there, and I'm sure it will help with resale. I think it's worth the $150.00, but as far as "requiring it" to access the iPhone 4's music features, that can be done through the iPod 4 cable. It's damn expensive at $400.00, but it does allow you to quickly browse your iPhone's music files.

It's a bit cumbersome, but it works great, once you get a feel for the interface.

Good luck!
