Well my 02 had the exact same issue. Played with static and not all speakers worked. (sounded like the speakers were blown) so I replaced the factory amp with a kenwood 4 channel and all was good, until I turned it up one time and lost 3 of my 6 inch door speakers..... turns out I burnt the wires between the plug for the speaker it's self and the the speaker. (about a 1inch long piece of bare wire)

I replace the four speakers and all is good.

Does your work again if you turn the car off and on again?
