Tirerack shows the Hankooks to be better than the other options

I've only tried the Pirelli Scorpion and Michelin Latitude. Can't comment their ability on snow/ice since the roads where mostly cleared everytime I went up the mountains (lucky me). The Pirelli do have better dry traction and wore better. The Michelin do ride better (smoother), but at 20K miles, the rear needs replacement. Wet traction between the two is a toss up. As a matter of fact, I will be going back to Pirelli to replace my current Michelin (having the Scorpion put on today). IMHO, the Michelin is over-rated...not worth the extra money. I don't really like the fact that the Michelin have a narrower contact patch either (even on the same size tire) - a whole inch narrower than the Pirelli! - which defeats the whole point of going staggered.
