There are two plugs, one on the sensor, and one on the vehicle end. They sit inside a protective box to keep the elements out. It sounds like you need the plug on the vehicle end, as well as a new sensor, if both are damaged.

Read this article, and look specifically at step 14, and the relevant photos in that step.
