Will go over the service records when I get it and have a friend at BMW run the VIN and get a detailed complete service history if I am interested after looking at it. Really don't want something this old and with that many miles but worth a check if taken care of and I can get a good deal.

Any concerns of buying one with this many miles. I see many posts with people buying them with higher miles and seems like no one has really got stuck with lots of repairs. I would get a Pre Purchase inspection done on it as well if serious.
87K isn't all that high. Not much different from a 04 with 75K miles, IMHO. It's all down to service history and how well the owner cared for it. Prior CPO cars also tend to be good bets. There is some element of gamble with any out of warranty BMW, so the way I see it I'd rather spend $17K on a 02 with 87K miles than $21K on a 04 with 75K miles. Leaves you more room for repair / maint which is just about as likely to be needed in either case.

Unless you are going for a sub 50K mile example, I'd say get the best cared for, nicest condition one for the cheapest price and don't worry so much about miles.
