There are many things that can cause a shudder feel, and the best way to track it down is physical diagnosis. I would first call your service adviser and explain the problem and express to him that you would prefer one of the more experienced techs (master tech) to diagnose it and to do a complete enough diagnosis to have confirmed the actual cause before throwing up an estimate for transmission. (I personally have driven around with my shop foreman in the passenger seat holding the diagnostic tester in his lap to observe the torque converter lockup clutch circuit via TC speed vs engine speed to confirm my diagnosis)
