Gee, even I would STRONGLY suspect foul play. If the garage door is open and you accidently drive forward into a gas can, even if a spark would ignite it, just back up. Even if you panicked and couldn't figure out how to reverse, just open the door and get out. They mention the X5 was singed (implying to me, not a deadly fire within the car) and presume an accelerent to have caused the fire.
