I will attempt to change the breather as I found a set of instructions. I've done some DIY before so hopefully I can do the change over.

At the dealer where I work,fixed loads of 2.0d and 3.0d engines chucking oil out of the dipstick.Mainly from owners who did the maintenance outside the dealer and didnt know these engines had a breather built into the engine!
You MUST replace the oil breather filter kit,urgently to avoid any damage to thye engine...and then you can check and see if it still smokes.If it does then its another I can help you with,but the oil breather replacement is now imperative!
