286bhp from 4.4 litres is not stressed !! 56bhp/litre. M engines are over 100bhp/litre.

I've only just bought an X5, but I've had a lot of other BMWs (mainly E36s) and never had much luck with 0w oils. They've always seemed happier with 5w30 or 5w40.
