I agree. But to answer the question about the "Magic Eye" indicator, they do work for the most part, but you have to remember two things:
(1) The battery has to have a chance to fully-charge before you get an accurate indication,
(2) The eye only shows the condition of one of the six cells, so the battery could be shot and still have a green indicator.
Recent BMW's do not seem to take kindly to marginal batteries, so you might as well replace it after four years if there are any signs of battery problems.
