ArtMan is on a distinguished road
Just got done changing the stupid 8 dollar gasket. Man, it was a pain in the ass to get the alternator back in as mentioned in the various other threads. I found that if you line it up then push down you can use a philips head screw driver to poke into the bottom bolt hole and use it to help align the bottom holes. While i was at it i noticed that the clamp that holds the PS hose at the bottom of the PS resevoir was also loose and so was the clamp at the end of the PS to the PS pump. I also closed off the open engine area and degreased the whole side there making extra sure no water or chemicals gets into the oil area. but now its shiny clean and only the bottom is left to clean but ill do that in the morning. Need to remove the aluminum skin plate. Overall, it was an easy job to do. I bought oil, gasket and filter form the dealer for (10 quarts ) for a total of just shy of 100 bucks. It took me with 2(15-30min breaks phone calls) and 45min to clean the housing and engine area and total of 6hrs. which is what i read many forms would take about 4 hrs to complete.

also, many say that you should take out the vanos hose from the back of the oil housing but i disagree its easier to take the hose of from the other end which sits right next to the oil filter so its less hassle.
