It is possible to make a backup of the navigation disc using a computer. I did.
You know what would be cool? Automatically updating navigation systems. Just throw in a cheap 40gig harddrive in a car (you could throw in four or five of them to be redundant) and have it download everytime you went in for server. Put wi-fi in the car and then you could download from other BMW's as well..
