Many of us use H & R kit and some use Eibach. You can stay with the stock shocks with these springs. My shocks are holding up fine after a couple of years now. As with all lowering springs without changing the shocks, the ride quality will be negatively affected but you get improved handling. For X5s with rear air suspension, this can be lowered only by the dealer.
