The material is like a jeans material and is not bad to sit on. I have two car seats in back so rarely do people sit back there. I can say that any minor discomfort that the cover may cause is completely outweighed by the protection the cover provides.
I would take a picture for you but my X5 has been at the dealer for over a month so I can't snap a picture. In the event that I get the car back, I will send you a pick.
