Its possible. If you search the forum (I think I searched for the words water + leak) there are some posts on this in the past. I guess its pretty common for the gasket to more or less dry rot and no longer hold a water tight seal. The water leaks in, and depending on the angle the car is parked, drips to one of many locations. Some get water in the trunk, others in the passenger footwells (your not alone) some in the cup holders.

When mine was dripping on me, as in on my way home and water just dripping from above, the trim of the headliner to the sunroof area was bone dry.
